Commitment to Environment
Nippon Express is actively taking environmentally conscious steps in our logistics business.
Nippon Express has promoted partnership between cargo owner companies and logistics companies to establish a cooperative system based on a “Green Partnership”. We have many successful cases of modal shift in Fiscal 2006, switching from truck-dependent freight forwarding to using more rail and sea transportation.
Nippon Express is actively engaging in emission reduction of CO2, NOx and PM as well as the introduction of environmentally conscious vehicles expected to improve fuel efficiency.
Nippon Express engages in the whole process of forwarding business from packaging small parcels to shipping and installation. We have been developing a variety of shipping supplies in response to customer needs in order to enhance forwarding efficiency while accelerating natural resource saving.
A Joint collection and delivery system has been proposed to reduce exhaust gas and ease traffic congestion. By improving the loading ratio of trucks, it is possible to enhance inner and inter-city logistical efficiency. A number of regions have undertaken efforts to establish Cooperative Carriage Centers that ensure unified collection and delivery of each forwarder.
Nippon Express encourages each business division to obtain an ISO14001, an environment management system, and a Green Management certification to further enhance environmental conservation and improve business safety.
Nippon Express promotes recycling and the proper disposal of waste by fully sorting the garbage from all offices and business divisions. We have also conducted additional measures such as green procurement as well as electricity and water conservation by conducting brownouts and implementing water-saving measures.
