Process of household moving abroad

Preliminary inspections
We will ascertain the overall volume of the household belongings at your home, and check the volume of baggage for each transport method. In the case of persons employed at companies and so on, if there are relevant company’s rules, we will check to make sure that the volume of baggage stays within the limits of the rules.
- Remote preliminary inspections
We will check photos of the baggage attached either to a LINE chat or an e-mail.
We will check the baggage and hold a meeting through a video call on Zoom.

Goods banned from import
There are items that cannot be sent as household-moving baggage. If prohibited items are discovered by customs at destination, there is a possibility of confiscation, disposal, fines, needing additional time for customs inspections, and so on. Please read the document on prohibited items, and make sure that your baggage does not include prohibited items as you prepare it.
Delivery of packing materials
Although packing is included in the household-moving services on the day of pickup, we can deliver a portion of the packing materials in advance if requested to do so. If methods of packing are unclear regarding fragile items and so on, you can ask our staff members about this, or let our staff members take care of the packing of such items on the day of pickup.
Sorting
The key to success in household moving is sorting. Please sort your baggage into categories before the day of pickup.
Sorting stickers will be sent to you along with the packing materials.
Pickup operations
- When sending baggage from a foreign country
Be sure to clearly write "unaccompanied baggage " on the parcels, a customs notice, and an invoice.
Set yourself as the addressee.
If you have items sent by a souvenir shop, instruct the salesclerk to write the words " unaccompanied baggage "on the parcel. - Procedures at entry (return to Japan)
Submit two copies of the "Declaration of Accompanied Personal Effects and Unaccompanied Articles" to Customs.
One of them will be returned to you with the seal of certification.
Keep it carefully. After entry, you cannot declare unaccompanied articles and declaration from cannot be reissued if lost. - Customs procedures for unaccompanied articles sent by air or sea
(1) The Arrival Notification Form arrives from the airline company, shipping company, carrier, or the like.
(2) Pick up the documents related to transportation (delivery order, etc.) at the notified airline company or the like.
(3) Make the import declaration for the unaccompanied articles at the unaccompanied baggage clearance section of Customs.
Documents necessary for the declaration are as follows
(a)Declaration form for unaccompanied articles with the seal of certification.
(b)Documents related to transportation (documents aforementioned in (2))
(c)Statement of contents, passport, and receipts.
(4) The baggage is moved from a warehouse (customs warehouse) to a customs inspection area for customs inspection.
Plants and animals subject to quarantine are inspected at the nearest plant or animal quarantine station.
(5) In cases of taxation, pay the tax.
After completing the customs clearance procedures, you can take possession of the baggage.

Import customs clearance and meeting regarding delivery
In accordance with the timing of the arrival of your baggage at destination, Nippon Express at destination or our partner company will contact you regarding the arrival, and hold a meeting with you regarding the day of delivery.
