Warehousing company established in Xiamen, China

2 August 2002

Nippon Express has established a new warehousing company to handle logistics operations in Xiamen (previously Amoy) in Fujian Province, China, and this new company opened for business on July.

Xiamen has thus far been targeted for expansion primarily by Taiwanese companies because of personal ties to the local area, but investment has poured in from Japanese and US companies in recent years, focusing attention on the area as a gateway.

Nippon Express already had a presence for handling air and marine transportation forwarding in Xiamen via the Xiamen Branch of Uni Sky Express Service Co., Ltd. (established in April 2001) but, with customers requiring high-level logistics operations utilizing bonded warehouses, Nippon Express established a local company in July in the Xiamen Free Trade Zone to design new logistics products ahead of competitor companies.

This new company expands the scale of Nippon Express' operations in China to 13 local companies with 38 business locations (not including Taiwan but including the overseas companies of Nittsu Shoji).
