New company in Zhukai (China) FTZ

Nippon Express has established a new local company to handle warehousing and other logistics operations in the Zhuhai Free Trade Zone located in Guangdong Province, China; this new company opened for business in September.

Zhuhai is located in the Zhujiang River Delta, on the opposite shore from Hong Kong but adjacent to Macao, and was designated in 1980 a special economic zone alongside Shenzhen, Xiamen, and Shantou. Numerous Japanese, Taiwanese, and Hong Kong manufacturers of precision electronic instruments and OA equipment have expanded their operations into Zhuhai and Zhongshan further inland.

Nippon Express already had a company - Nippon Express (Zhuhai) Co., Ltd., established in April 1997 - providing warehouse storage operations in the area, but its general warehouse was not able to meet the needs of customers with bonded cargo.

The new company will take full advantage of its status as a free trade zone warehouse in handling logistics operations and packing/sorting/logistics processing, and will expand the overall forwarding capabilities of the Nippon Express Group through cooperation with Nippon Express (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., headquartered in the gateway to the Huanan District.

This new company expands the scale of Nippon Express' operations in China to 14 local companies with 39 business locations (not including Taiwan but including the overseas companies of Nittsu Shoji).
