Logistics center established in UK

3 October 2002

Nippon Express' local corporation in the UK, Nippon Express (UK) Ltd. (Katsumi Sato, Managing Director), has opened a new logistics center in the city of Swindon to handle logistics processing.

Located 110 kilometers west of London, Swindon is home to the production sites of a number of automobile manufacturers and suppliers of parts/components. Nippon Express has established a new logistics center there to meet the logistics processing needs of these customers.

In addition to warehouse logistics processing, the new logistics center will carry out such operations as the packing of products for export, import/export customs clearance, and container/truck transport.

The logistics center will also develop a "visible logistics" scheme allowing users to submit inquiries and monitor shipments via a website, and customers' global procurement efforts will be supported by linking the center to Nippon Express' warehouse/transport information management system.

The new logistics center will initially have a warehouse space of 2,230m2 but there are plans to expand this warehouse space to 8,000m2 in the near future.
