Facilities at Jakarta airport expanded

30 June 2002

Nippon Express' local air cargo company in Indonesia, Nippon Express (Indonesia) Co., Ltd. (President: NAKADA Nobuya), will transfer its Operation Center to expanded facilities in response to growing cargo traffic at Jakarta Airport.

To meet increasing customer needs throughout Indonesia, Nippon Express Indonesia has actively opened a number of business locations. However, the rise in the volume of cargo handled at Jakarta Airport has overtaxed its bonded warehouse and office space there, prompting the company to move to expanded facilities in a new building on the same lot as its present agency building.

The new facilities feature closed circuit TV for better security and allow in-house management of storage, from the transfer of bonded import cargo to the warehouse to the completion of customs clearance procedures.

Established in July of last year, this local company has been the only Japanese forwarder providing storage services in its own bonded warehouse at Jakarta Airport; this warehouse serves customers' needs by lowering the risks of cargo damage and security problems vis-a-vis the airport's joint warehouse. Nippon Express Indonesia is only one of four companies that have been granted authorization for the transfer storage of bonded cargo.

Nippon Express Indonesia has also set up an office in the apronside airport joint warehouse to maintain its high quality of service.
