Nippon Express completes construction of new head office building

Long under construction, Nippon Express' new head office building in Minato Ward, Tokyo, has at last been completed, and a ceremony celebrating this success was held on July 11.

The new head office building was erected in the redeveloped Shiodome Shio Site in Tokyo's Shiodome district. The railhead for Japan's first railroad, the Shiodome district might well be called the birthplace of our company's business. The building will serve as the new face of our global corporation, and was designed to offer "a space that will spark intellectual creativity" within "a people- and environment-friendly building" that will "contribute to the surrounding community."

In building "a space that will spark intellectual creativity," we have sought to fashion an information infrastructure capable of incorporating advances in IT technology as well as a comfortable and healthful office environment.

Environmental protection is an important management issue for Nippon Express, and this "people- and environment-friendly building" reflects our commitment to reducing the burden on the local environment by conserving energy and by creating a verdant exterior space at harmony with the neighborhood.

To "contribute to the surrounding community," the new building features a martial arts hall, a Museum of Transportation, and other cultural exchange facilities that will be made available for use by the local community. By ensuring the structure is thoroughly resistant to earthquakes, we have also enabled it to serve as a disaster-prevention facility for the community.

The completion of this headquarters marks the starting point of a new "Nippon Express for the 21st century" and symbolizes a renewed dedication to building up the Nippon Express Group.

The Nippon Express Head Office building will open for business on July 22.
