Nippon Express establishes new China logistics base in Guangzhou

17 April 2003

Nippon Express (Zhuhai) Co., Ltd. (Yukio Matsuzawa, Managing Director), one of Nippon Express' subsidiary companies in China, has recently opened a branch office with warehousing facilities in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, marking its entry as a serious player into the domestic logistics market in the Huanan region of China.

Seven Nippon Express Group companies are engaged in sales of air/ocean cargo forwarding, warehouse distribution, and logistics services in the Huanan region and its gateway Hong Kong, but a representative office has thus far handled business in Guangzhou. Being a key city in the flow of goods in the Huanan region, Guangzhou has garnered attention in recent years due to the large number of companies from the automotive industry setting up operations there, and the need for logistics systems based in Guangzhou has grown accordingly.

To meet this need, the Guangzhou Branch of Nippon Express (Zhuhai) has been established as a key business location with approximately 5,900m2 of warehouse space. This base will in future be positioned as a hub for domestic (China) logistics in the Huanan region to handle warehousing storage and distribution operations as well as trunk line transport between business locations.

Nippon Express is now expanding its handling of domestic cargo in China, heretofore handled on a case-by-case basis by its local companies, to separate frameworks for the Huanan, Huadong, and Huabei regions so that it can meet the needs and requests of its customers.
