Enhancing NE's Presence in the Scandinavian and Russian Markets

18 April 2003

Nippon Express' Office of the Regional General Manager, Europe, is strengthening company sales activities with a particular focus on logistics services linking Scandinavia/the EU with Russia.

The European Global Sales Center, part of Nippon Express' Office of the Regional General Manager, Europe (Keiichi Nakatani, Executive Director; also Managing Director, Nippon Express Deutschland GmbH), has been promoting logistics services across Europe as a whole. To bolster sales of logistics services involving Russia, however, Nippon Express has stationed an employee at Mahe Ltd., a partner company in Helsinki, from February of this year.

Russia is a large consumer market spanning a vast territory, and the special transport/customs circumstances there have prompted Nippon Express to establish a transport route via Finland, the only EU country bordering Russia. Japanese manufacturers exporting hi-tech products with high added value have been setting up product warehouses in Helsinki and expanding their logistics operations to increase sales in Russia.

Nippon Express' sales efforts in Europe have centered on its European Global Sales Center and, taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the stationing of personnel in Helsinki, it will endeavor to further improve its logistics services to Scandinavia and Russia in close cooperation with local partner companies.
