Nippon Express completes construction of new Suzhou warehouse, further strengthens its service structure in the Huadong Region

Nippon Express (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., (Katsuyoshi Usami, President), a Nippon Express subsidiary operating out of the city of Suzhou in China's Jiangsu Province, has recently completed construction of its own warehouse facilities begun last October, and this month will open the warehouse for business.

Suzhou has become one of China's major hi-tech production bases, with more than 200 Japanese manufacturers and Taiwanese EMS companies having set up operations there. The new warehouse was built in the Suzhou National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (in Suzhou's New District), and is favorably located about 5 to 10 minutes by car from the Suzhou New District Terminal (Customs) and the Shanghai/Nanking Expressway Interchange.

Since starting business in 2002, Nippon Express Suzhou has offered a variety of services, including procurement logistics within China for companies expanding into the country, intra-factory logistics, milk-run transport targeting more than 100 vendor companies, and logistics consulting. The new warehouse will be linked to Nippon Express' overseas network via REWARDS (REmote WARehousing & Distribution System), enabling customers to determine the inventory status of their own products through a website. Together with just-in-time parts/components supply and cross-docking functions, this will enhance the total logistics functions of the company. Nippon Express Suzhou has moved its head office to an office wing built on to the new warehouse, and has been operating from there since the end of March.

Two other Nippon Express Group companies have established branch offices in Suzhou: Uni-Sky Express Service Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Express International Co., Ltd. With the completion of the new warehouse, these Group companies will be working in even closer cooperation and will strengthen their service framework in Jiangsu Province and the rest of the Huadong Region.
