New Logistics Base Constructed Near Laem Chabang Port, Thailand

Hi-Tech Nittsu (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Akio Sudo, President; head office: Ayuttaya Province; 591 employees), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd., completed construction in December 2003 of a new facility for domestic logistics. Located in the General Industrial Zone (GIZ) near Laem Chabang Port, about 130 km southeast of Bangkok, the new facility is now open for business.

Hi-Tech Nittsu has warehouses in the Laem Chabang Export Processing Zone (EPZ) and Ayuttaya offering a total space of 25,000m2, and is engaged in import/export forwarding of general ocean cargo, warehouse storage, logistics processing, and truck transport within Thailand and between Thailand and Malaysia. The new facility, outside the EPZ in the Laem Chabang district, was built to deal with the expanding demand for logistics services in Thailand.

An industrial area centered on the automotive industry, Laem Chabang Port and vicinity has good access to the new international airport currently under construction (scheduled to open in 2005) in the southeast part of Bangkok and enjoys an advantageous geographical position as a distribution point for consumer logistics within Bangkok and to other major cities.

With this new facility Hi-Tech Nittsu has strengthened its logistics processing capabilities as well as its ordinary warehousing functions, thereby establishing a structure that can adequately meet the logistics needs of the automotive industry and Japanese customer companies expanding their operations into Thailand.

Hi-Tech Nittsu will be working with other Nippon Express Group companies in Thailand - Nippon Express (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which deals primarily with air cargo, removals cargo, and consolidated ocean cargo; Nippon Express Engineering (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which handles the transport of heavy equipment, and Nittsu Shoji (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which carries out packing operations - to provide total logistics services that meet customer needs.
