Nippon Express opens new branch in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province (China)

In October 2004 Nippon Express opened a new branch in the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone of China's Jiangsu Province through one of its local subsidiaries in China, Nippon Express (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (head office: Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province; Katsuyoshi Usami, President). This branch is now undertaking a variety of in-factory operations to support the launch of full-scale operations by Japanese manufacturers in the Jiangsu-Yangtze International Chemical Industrial Park next to the Free Trade Zone.

Located about 100 kilometers northwest of Shanghai along the Yangtze River, the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone operates as a logistics zone so that it can function similarly to the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Bonded Logistics Zone established earlier by China. Preparations are underway at numerous foreign chemical companies to open factories in the Jiangsu-Yangtze International Chemical Industrial Park.

The Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone Branch will enable Nippon Express (Suzhou) to provide in-factory operations and offer logistics solutions both inside and outside factories within the International Chemical Industrial Park to meet client companies' logistics needs.

This new branch brings the Nippon Express sales network in China to 18 companies and 60 locations in 23 cities as of the end of November.

Established in 2002 in Suzhou City and capitalized entirely by the Nippon Express Group, Nippon Express (Suzhou) has focused its business activities on the rapidly growing economy of Jiangsu Province. Primarily targeting Japanese OA equipment and electronic component manufacturers, NE Suzhou offers warehousing services at the 10,000m2 warehouse it completed this year and has extended the scope of its operations to milk-run distribution and to in-factory logistics in cooperation with Shanghai Express International Co., Ltd., another Nippon Express Group company. NE Suzhou is aiming to provide more closely tailored services by establishing offices in Changshu, Nantong and Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu Province and stationing personnel at the offices of client manufacturers in the area, and is working to acquire a road transport operator license in the near future to help it further expand its service menu.
