Nippon Express Providing Support for the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi, Japan (Aichi EXPO)

19 March 2004

The Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition, the host organization for the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi, Japan (also known as the Aichi EXPO or the Exposition of Global Harmony), has named Nippon Express Co., Ltd., a "designated on-site transport company" for transport on the EXPO grounds and a "highly recommended company" capable of meeting the transport needs of exhibitors and other parties.

Themed "Nature's Wisdom," the Aichi EXPO will be held from March 25 to September 25, 2005 in the hills east of Nagoya (in the cities of Nagakute, Toyota, and Seto). In addition to the National Government Pavilion (tentative name) and pavilions put up by local governments and private corporations, the EXPO will feature - at present count - the participation of 125 countries and 8 international organizations.

Nippon Express has organized an Exposition of Global Harmony Project Team, headed by Katsuhide Yamazaki, Executive Vice President, and comprising a total of about 50 personnel from the relevant head office divisions, branches in Aichi Prefecture, and the Group companies Nittsu Shoji Co., Ltd., Nittsu Real Estate Co., Ltd., and Nittsu Research Center, Inc.

Centered on domestic and international logistics inside and outside the EXPO site, Nippon Express' broad-ranging EXPO operations include managing warehouses erected in conjunction with the EXPO site and planning travel packages and tours. Nippon Express has also been contracted to transport a frozen mammoth from Siberia and to operate a tram that will run throughout the EXPO site. Highly knowledgeable and experienced Nippon Express specialists are providing exhibitors and other parties with consultations on EXPO-related logistics as well as with optimal coordination in the use of all transport modes.

Nippon Express and the Nippon Express Group will be marshalling the full capabilities of its network to provide support for, and ensure the success of, the Aichi EXPO, scheduled to take place only a year from now.
