New Facility to Open at Frankfurt International Airport (Germany)

21 September 2004

A new facility for Nippon Express (Deutschland) GmbH (Keiichi Nakatani, Managing Director), Nippon Express' local subsidiary in Germany, has recently been completed at the Frankfurt International Airport's Cargo City South and will begin operations on September 27.

This newest addition to the Nippon Express network has an airline pallet handling system and ensures higher speed and quality by carrying out build-up and break-down of import/export air cargo in-house. The facility also offers functions that optimally support customers' supply chain management and provides services such as short-term bonded storage and zero-inventory high-speed distribution.

Designed to meet the highest (Class A) Freight Security Standards of the Technology Asset Protection Association (TAPA), the facility features about 60 security cameras, a monitoring system and an access control system, and maximum consideration has been given to quality and safety (certification application was submitted to TAPA upon completion of construction).

This facility will serve Nippon Express as a central gateway for air cargo in the Europe Region. The Company is developing systems to keep up with the expanding EU economy and above all actively address the steadily growing logistics from Central and Eastern Europe, with the aim of meeting the logistics needs of customers in accordance with the Europe Region's policy of "pan-European, borderless, and centralized functions."
