28 July 2004
The Air Cargo Branch of Nippon Express Philippines Corporation (Masao Kawazoe, President), and the Air Cargo Logistics Branch of Nippon Express Singapore Pte., Ltd. (Jiro Nakamura, President), recently received TAPA certification showing that they meet or exceed the organization's security and safety standards for handling air cargo.
TAPA is the acronym for the Technology Asset Protection Association, a non-profit association of security professionals and related business partners from high-tech companies that was founded in the US in 1997. The standards established by TAPA are also used to improve the level of safety in the transport industry, and they are regarded worldwide as the premier guidelines for practical security and safety methodology. Clients, especially those in high-tech industries, have come to demand that transport companies, too, satisfy TAPA standards.
TAPA's certification standards are based on a total of 70 criteria covering storage, cargo transport, and facility access security. In June Nippon Express Philippines Corporation earned the highest certification - Class A - while in May Nippon Express Singapore received Class B certification, the highest rank for a multi-tenant facility.
The Nippon Express Group will endeavor to have more of its facilities certified by TAPA in future as it pursues the provision of high-quality service.
