Nippon Express augments sales structure in China

29 January 2004

The People's Republic of China has drawn much attention as "the world's factory" and an enormous market, and Nippon Express has recently taken two more steps to enhance its sales support and office network there with the aim of becoming even more responsive to the logistics needs of customer companies.

Expansion of functions - China Office, Nippon Express (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd.

Set up in Hong Kong in May 2002 to provide sales support for Nippon Express' local subsidiaries in China, the principal business locations of the China Office will be moved to Shanghai, where a new and larger Shanghai Office will be opened on 1 February. The aim is to enhance the support functions of the China Office - grappling with China's complex legal restrictions and coordinating operational cooperation between NE's local subsidiaries, among others - and to reinforce sales expansion by moving the Office nearer customers and NE's local subsidiaries in the rapidly developing Huadong district and elsewhere.

The establishment of this new office will bring the number of Nippon Express business locations in China (including Hong Kong) to 14 subsidiaries and 52 branches/offices.

Office address: Pos Plaza 8F 1600 Century Avenue, Pudong Newarea Shanghai 200122, The People's Republic of China

* The office is in same building as another local subsidiary, Shanghai e-Technology.

Opening of first office in inland China

Nippon Express' first business location in the interior of China will be opened in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Uni-Sky Express Service Co., Ltd. (head office: Beijing; Takeki Yamaguchi, President) is completing all the necessary formalities to operate the office as a sales location, and the office is scheduled to open for business this March. Wuhan and vicinity have seen a rapid expansion in the number of Japanese and other foreign automotive/parts manufacturers setting up local plants, and Nippon Express hopes by opening this new office to augment its sales structure and improve its customer service.
