NE Italy Receives TAPA Certification
14 July 2005
On June 6, the Head Office of Nippon Express (Italia) S.R.L. (NEI; Kenichi Kayama, President), one of Nippon Express' local subsidiaries in Italy, was awarded Class A certification by TAPA for meeting that organization's security standards for air cargo handling.
TAPA is the acronym for the Technology Asset Protection Association, a non-profit association of security professionals and security managers at high-tech and household appliance companies that was founded in the US in 1997 and began operations in Europe in 1999. The standards established by TAPA are also used to improve the level of safety in the transport industry, and they are regarded worldwide as the premier guidelines for practical security and safety methodology. Clients, especially those in high-tech industries, have come to demand that transport companies also satisfy TAPA standards.
TAPA offers three levels of certification with increasingly strict requirements from Class C to Class A, the class awarded to NEI's Head Office in Milan. NEI is the first Japanese air frieght forwarder operating in Italy to earn Class A certification.
The Nippon Express Group will endeavor to have more of its facilities certified by TAPA in future as it continues providing high-quality service.
