- BS7799 is an internationally recognized standard established for the construction of systems that maintain and improve management through suitable measures taken by companies in the course of their business activities to protect information assets. This standard actually comprises two classes: BS7799-1 and BS7799-2; the former is an "information security management standard" that has been adopted as the international standard ISO/IEC17799, while the latter comprises "information security management system specifications" linked to Japan's Information Security Management System for evaluating compatibility. BS7799-2:2002 refers to the 2002 (latest) version of BS7799-2.
