Nippon Express Malaysia Acquires TAPA Certification
16 February 2005
On December 17, the Kuala Lumpur Airport Branch of Nippon Express Malaysia Sdn, Bhd. (Seiken Tsukurimichi, Managing Director), Nippon Express' local subsidiary in Malaysia, received Class A certification from TAPA for meeting that organization's security and safety standards for air cargo handling.
TAPA is the acronym for the Technology Asset Protection Association, a non-profit association of security professionals and security managers at high-tech and household appliance companies that was founded in the US in 1997 and began operations in Europe in 1999. The standards established by TAPA are also used to improve the level of safety in the transport industry, and they are regarded worldwide as the premier guidelines for practical security and safety methodology. Clients, especially those in high-tech industries, have come to demand that transport companies also satisfy TAPA standards.
Following the Kuala Lumpur Airport Branch's acquisition of TAPA certification, NE Malaysia is now working toward having its Penang Branch similarly certified this spring.
The Nippon Express Group will endeavor to have more of its facilities certified by TAPA in future as it continues to pursue the provision of high-quality service.
