NE Hong Kong Operating "Hi-Speed Logistics Center"
2 March 2005
Nippon Express (H.K.) Co., Ltd. (Tsuyoshi Hayakawa, Managing Director), a Nippon Express subsidiary based in Hong Kong, China, is operating a Hi-Speed Logistics Center inside Hong Kong International Airport.
This Center was built last October on a 6,500m2 lot leased by Nippon Express, the first Japanese forwarder to become a tenant in this airport, to handle export air cargo in a cargo shed adjacent to the runway.
The increased number of receiving docks is expected to substantially reduce queuing time for export air cargo, and ULD(*1) build-up by NE Hong Kong itself will mean that cargo can be conveyed directly in ULD units to airline companies.
These changes will enable NE Hong Kong to load cargo aboard earlier flights even with the same conveyance time as before and to accept CFS(*2) cargo still in ULD units at the destination; Nippon Express thereby provides safe and reliable door-to-door service while considerably shortening the lead time required.
A security area for high-value goods has also been created within the Center and the cargo security system enhanced.
By operating this Center, NE Hong Kong is endeavoring to further improve its services in order to serve its customers as a gateway to China/Huanan logistics.
