Nippon Express France Acquires TAPA Certification

26 January 2005

On January 10, the Charles de Gaulle Airport Cargo Zone warehouse belonging to the Head Office of Nippon Express France, S.A. (Norio Kondo, Managing Director), Nippon Express' local subsidiary in France, received Class A certification from TAPA for meeting that organization's security and safety standards for air cargo handling.

TAPA is the acronym for the Technology Asset Protection Association, a non-profit association of security professionals and security managers at high-tech and household appliance companies that was founded in the US in 1997 and began operations in Europe in 1999. The standards established by TAPA are also used to improve the level of safety in the transport industry, and they are regarded worldwide as the premier guidelines for practical security and safety methodology. Clients, especially those in high-tech industries, have come to demand that transport companies also satisfy TAPA standards.

TAPA offers three levels of certification with increasingly strict requirements from Class C to Class A. Of all air freight forwarders operating in France -- be they Japanese, other foreign, or local companies - NE France is the first to acquire Class A certification.

The Nippon Express Group will endeavor to have more of its facilities certified by TAPA in future as it pursues the provision of high-quality service.
