Narita Airport Logistics Center No. 3 Receives TAPA Certification
28 April 2005

Narita Airport Logistics Center No. 3*, opened for business in January 2005, was awarded TAPA Class A certification on April 19, the first Nippon Express facility in Japan to receive TAPA certification.
TAPA is the acronym for the Technology Asset Protection Association, a non-profit association of security professionals and security managers at high-tech and household appliance companies that was founded in the US in 1997 and began operations in Asia in 2000. The standards established by TAPA are also used to improve the level of safety in the transport industry, and they are regarded worldwide as the premier guidelines for practical security and safety methodology. Clients, especially those in high-tech industries, have come to demand that transport companies also satisfy TAPA standards.
Surveillance cameras and access control systems were integrated into Narita Airport Logistics Center No. 3 from its initial design with a view to acquiring TAPA certification, and this facility has the highest level of security of any air cargo facility in the country.
Working to improve the quality of its transport systems, the Nippon Express Group will seek TAPA certification for more of its facilities in Japan and worldwide as it continues providing high quality service.
