Kansai Airport Cargo Handling Facility Receives TAPA Class A Certification

12 April 2006

The KIX Hi-Speed Logistics Hub, a cargo handling facility within Kansai International Airport opened by Nippon Express in November 2005, was recently awarded TAPA's highest rating of Class A in the TAPA FSR-2005 certification audit.

TAPA is the acronym for the Technology Asset Protection Association, a non-profit organization of high-tech manufacturing companies and their partner logistics companies created with the aim of improving cargo transport safety; the standards established by TAPA are regarded worldwide as the premier guidelines for practical security and safety methodology. There has been a growing tendency of late among clients, especially those in high-tech industries, to emphasize safety and security in choosing transport companies. To meet the needs of the times, the KIX Hi-Speed Logistics Hub was designed from the outset with the acquisition of TAPA certification in mind, and surveillance cameras, room access management systems, and other physical security measures have been introduced.

Regarding TAPA certification as newly added value, Nippon Express is committed to providing even higher quality service at the safe and secure KIX Hi-Speed Logistics Hub, the largest forwarder-operated cargo handling facility in any airport in Japan.

The certificate officially acknowledging TAPA certification should be received sometime in early May.
