Nippon Express Group opens new warehouse in Shanghai

6 January 2006

Nippon Express (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (head office: Shanghai, China; Tetsuo Iizuka, President; hereinafter "NE Shanghai"), a local Nippon Express subsidiary in China, has built an additional warehouse (approximately 12,000m2) on Gang Cheng Road in the Pudong New Area district of Shanghai. This new warehouse, which opened for business on December 26, brings NE Shanghai's total warehouse area to about 37,000m2 and that of the five local NE Group companies(*1) in the Huadong Region (Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province) to around 86,200m2.

The new warehouse has been outfitted with the latest in wireless LAN-based WMS(*2), and its high degree of functionality will enable management of inventory and operational status as well as KPI management(*3). Taking advantage of its vicinity to the Waigaoqiao Port area, the warehouse will reduce shipping lead time and cut drayage costs in processing export consolidated cargo, as well as meet the increasingly sophisticated logistics needs of third-party logistics (3PL) and supply chain management (SCM).

NE Shanghai recently changed its English appellation from Shanghai Express International Co., Ltd., to Nippon Express (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and similarly Uni Sky Express Service Co., Ltd., a local NE Group company that has expanded its forwarding business throughout China (head office: Beijing; Takeki Yamaguchi, President) has been renamed Nippon Express (China) Co., Ltd. These changes are aimed at clearly indicating the cohesion of our Group's global network as we continue to work to meet the trust of our customers worldwide.
