Nippon Express and Mitsubishi Corporation begin offering round-trip consolidated trucking services linking the Huabei, Huadong, and Huanan regions
Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Masanori Kawai), and Mitsubishi Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yorihiko Kojima) on September 1 began offering round-trip scheduled consolidated trucking services connecting the Huabei, Huadong, and Huanan regions of China.
Nippon Express has offered scheduled consolidated truck services from Shanghai to 80 cities across China since March 2005, but these services have primarily involved one-way shipments of cargo from Shanghai and other cities in the Huadong region; shipments were handled on the return legs at the request of individual customers. To meet a broader range of customer needs, round-trip consolidated services integrating existing highway routes will now be provided.
More specifically, linking up (1) the Huadong Route (Shanghai - Suzhou - Wuxi - Shanghai; Shanghai - Nanjing - Shanghai), (2) the Huabei Route (Shanghai - Beijing - Tianjin - Shanghai), and (3) the Huanan Route (Shanghai - Guangzhou/Shenzhen - Shanghai) allows for long-distance round-trip consolidated transport. With customer convenience being the top priority, the freight rate schedule comprises readily understandable uniform round-trip rates that combine highway charges with collection and delivery charges.
Shanghai Puling Transportation & Warehouse Co.,Ltd.(Head Office: Shanghai, China; President: Kamikazu Hatano), the focal point of Nippon Express' and Mitsubishi's logistics cooperation within China, will be in charge of these consolidated services; sales will be conducted by Nippon Express Group companies operating throughout China and Mitsubishi logistics subsidiaries. Bearing transport quality foremost in mind when assigning staff to the relevant branches and offices and pro-actively managing cargo tracking information will enable Shanghai Puling to promptly address any irregularities that might arise.
In May of this year Shnaghai Puling acquired a new warehouse in Beijing (warehouse floor space: 7,000m2; office space: 500m2) at a new airport logistics base located on the north side of Beijing Airport, and assigned 50 employees (33 sales and office personnel, 17 line personnel) to this facility. In addition to improving services for existing customers, the company has bolstered the warehouse's capability to serve as a sorting terminal for consolidated shipments in the Huabei region.
Nippon Express will continue its efforts to provide user-friendly services that meet the full spectrum of customers' rapidly expanding domestic logistics needs in China.
