Nippon Express to open large-scale warehouse in Moscow suburbs
06 June 2008
Nippon Express (Russia) LLC (president: Morisuke Yoda), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (president: Masanori Kawai), will open a large-scale warehouse facility on the outskirts of Moscow in January 2009.
As the circumstances surrounding customs clearance in Russia have improved, an increasing number of foreign companies have switched from sales via neighboring countries to direct sales within Russia. Expanding consumption driven by Russia's booming economy, especially in the major market of Moscow, has generated a sharp rise in the demand for warehousing services.
Nippon Express opened a representative office in Moscow in June 2005, and in July 2006 established Nippon Express (St. Petersburg) LLC. A year later this subsidiary set up a Moscow Branch and changed its company name to Nippon Express (Russia) LLC. In the St. Petersburg area its operations center on the import of factory equipment for Japanese manufacturers, while in the Moscow area it is focused on product storage/distribution for transport equipment manufacturers as well as on overseas removals. Nippon Express (Russia) is currently utilizing the warehouse of a partner company (agent) in Moscow but has decided to establish its own warehouse to enhance its operational scope and pro-actively address an anticipated surge in demand for logistics operations.
Situated north of Moscow not too far from Sheremetyevo Airport, the new site will enjoy a favorable location with easy access to the highway connecting St. Petersburg and Moscow. It will have a total floor area of about 24,000m2 and, like the present warehouse, will allow Nippon Express (Russia) to provide high-quality service using REWARDS, Nippon Express' backbone warehouse management system (WMS). The warehouse will be safeguarded by a comprehensive security system: surveillance cameras will be installed throughout the facility, security guards will be on duty around the clock, and alarm systems will alert the security company and the nearest police station in the event of emergencies.
This latest addition to the Nippon Express network will further demonstrate Nippon Express' commitment to providing logistics services that meet the diversifying needs of its customers.
