Nippon Express (Italia) becomes third Group company in Europe to qualify as AEO

10 April 2009

Nippon Express (Italia) S.R.L. (Kenichi Kayama, President), a local corporation of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), recently qualified as EU Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) eligible for preferential customs clearance procedures. This is the third Nippon Express Group company in Europe – after Nippon Express (Nederland) B.V. and Nippon Express (Ireland) Ltd. – to so qualify.

Nippon Express (Italia) was established in Milan in 1986, and has branches in Turin in northern Italy, Rome in southern Italy, and Florence, capital of the Tuscany region, in central Italy. The company is actively engaged in business as part of the largest European logistics network operated by a Japanese forwarder and provides total logistics services in Milan for import and export shipments. Qualification as “Authorized Economic Operators, Full" (AEOF) entitles it to simplified customs clearance procedures and preferential treatment in terms of both security and safety, demonstrating the regard with which the quality of the Nippon Express Group's customs clearance operations and security is held in Italy.

The AEO system was introduced as part of the EU's efforts to guarantee a secure international supply chain. AEO status makes it possible to address more rapidly and smoothly the increasingly sophisticated needs of companies in the midst of globalization. Other Nippon Express Group companies in Europe will actively undertake to acquire AEO status so that they can offer even higher quality logistics services and better satisfy their customers.
