Nippon Express enhances its air transport operations in Russia
20 January 2009
In December of last year Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President) launched an in-house integrated air cargo transport service utilizing Nippon Express (Russia) LLC ("NE Russia") for cargo bound for Russia from Japan.
Consolidated cargo sorting operations and arrival notices had all previously been consigned to an agent but, except for storage shed operations, these will now be performed entirely in-house by NE Russia, enabling cargo arrival notices and import customs clearance declarations to be submitted a day earlier. NE Russia's assumption of these operations will make possible the handling of freight collect cargo, which heretofore could not be accepted, substantial improvements in the level of service and the satisfaction of an even wider range of customer needs; cargo traceability from consignment to final delivery will offer "process visualization."
High-quality cargo handling will be carried out in the cargo shed of Terminal 2 at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, whose surveillance camera security system is among the several factors that make it the best-equipped facility at the airport.
As one of the emerging BRIC countries, Russia has maintained rapid economic development underpinned by its wealth of underground resources. Although the sharp economic slowdown worldwide has resulted in temporary stagnation, Russia holds great promise not only as a consumption area but, with many Japanese companies planning to set up production bases there, as an international cargo market as well.
To meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of customers, we will continue to work hard to provide an even broader spectrum of transport products and to further improve our services.
