Nippon Express becomes first Japanese forwarder in Ireland to qualify as AEO
26 March 2009
Nippon Express Ireland Ltd. (Yutaka Ito, President), a local corporation of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), recently became the first Japanese forwarder in Ireland to qualify as EU Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) and the second Nippon Express Group company in Europe to do so; Nippon Express (Nederland) B.V. became the first Japanese company in Europe granted AEO status (April 2008).
AEO qualification entails careful screening of the ability of a company's commercial and transport management systems to carry out proper customs clearance inspections in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, the financial soundness of the company, and its maintenance of appropriate security/safety standards. Having successfully passed this screening and been awarded AEO status, Nippon Express (Ireland) is now eligible for simplified customs clearance procedures and preferential treatment with regard to both security and safety. This qualification also evidences broad acknowledgment of the quality of the company's customs clearance operations and security.
Nippon Express (Ireland) was established in 1992 as a subsidiary of Nippon Express (U.K.) Ltd. With branches in Dublin and Cork, the company's primary business efforts focus on the pharmaceuticals/medical equipment, hi-tech and other value-added industries. Nippon Express (Ireland) is determined to meet the needs of its customers, provide high-level total logistics services using the UK as a gateway, and expand the scope of its business operations.
The Nippon Express Group companies spanning Europe are actively endeavoring to qualify as AEO, thus gaining access to preferential customs clearance procedures and enabling them to offer more robust support for the international supply chains of their customers.
