Nippon Express further expands its Asian logistics routes

30 June 2009

Hi-Tech Nittsu (Thailand) licensed for Thailand-Laos-Vietnam through transport

Hi-Tech Nittsu (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Toshimichi Moriwaki, President), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), recently acquired a multinational transport operating license from Thailand's Ministry of Transport and Communications enabling its vehicles to travel from Thailand through Laos to Vietnam. This license is valid for 11 company trucks that will operate along an east-west corridor running from Thailand through Savannakhet and Densavan in Laos to Lao Bao and Danang in Vietnam.

Based on bilateral agreements between Thailand and Laos, Hi-Tech Nittsu (Thailand) has previously obtained bi-national licenses enabling it to provide regular trucking services to Laos, but the new license will allow the company to extend the operating area of its vehicles to Vietnam. This will eliminate the need for cross-border transshipments on the Mekong Land Bridge Express, a Hanoi-Bangkok ground transport service using part of Nippon Express' SS7000* cross-border trucking route network linking Shanghai and Singapore, and make it possible to cut transshipping costs, ensure cargo safety, and reduce lead time.

Nippon Express will continue to monitor the infrastructure and operating environment along this east-west corridor, and will in future provide an even greater variety of high-quality services on the SS7000 to meet the anticipated expansion of logistics needs in China, Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
