NE signs business tie-up with one of Brazil's largest general warehousing companies
On January 18, Nippon Express do Brasil Ltda. ("NE Brazil"; Ryo Wada, President), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), concluded a basic business collaboration agreement with Aurora Terminais e Servicos Ltda. ("Aurora"), a general warehousing company headquartered in the Brazilian city of Sorocaba (State of Sao Paolo).
Obtaining a permit for bonded facilities in Brazil requires completing the federal tax bureau's tendering process, making it no easy matter to construct new facilities. This tie-up will enable NE Brazil to utilize Aurora's hybrid bonded warehouse/CFS to offer sophisticated and flexible logistics services combining bonded warehouse and air/ocean cargo forwarding functions.
The warehouse being made available by Aurora is located about 60km from Viracopos Airport, Sao Paolo's cargo airport, and approximately 150km from the Port of Santos. The Greater Sao Paolo Beltway from Santos currently under construction will extend to this site, and completion of the beltway will further the convenience and geographical advantages of the warehouse. NE Brazil will be setting up its own office within Aurora's bonded warehouse and stationing full-time specialist staff there to provide closer operational oversight and better customer service.
Founded in 2000, Aurora is one of Brazil's largest general warehousing companies, running bonded warehouses, commercial warehouses, and port container terminals. Aurora's warehouses are outfitted with the latest in security systems and are certified by the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA)(*).
As Japanese companies continue to expand into Brazil, Nippon Express will leverage Aurora's general warehousing functions through this partnership to provide even more robust support in meeting customers' diverse logistics needs.
* The Association has established globally-recognized security standards for the prevention of loss/theft to products during transport and storage.
