Nippon Express opens representative office in Dhaka, Bangladesh

18 August 2010

On August 20, Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Masanori Kawai, President), opened a representative office in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has been in the spotlight recently as a new investment destination, with particular attention paid to its textile industry, but an expansion of the patron base has also spurred rapid growth in the production/sale of automobiles, household appliances and daily necessities.

In May Nippon Express dispatched a manager to Dhaka to complete preparations for the representative office and to conduct various marketing activities to ascertain customer needs. Authorization to open the representative office was granted at the end of July by the Bangladesh Board of Investment, and the office was subsequently opened this month. This brings Nippon Express' overseas network to 384 business locations in 211 cities in 37 countries.

In future, our company hopes to provide across-the-board service – from international air and ocean cargo transport to domestic truck transport, warehousing and removals – to companies expanding their businesses in Bangladesh by developing systems capable of meeting their wide-ranging needs.

Nippon Express intends to bolster its support for the business activities of customers in Bangladesh by opening this latest representative office, and will endeavor sometime in the near future to transform the representative office into a local corporation.
