Implementation of Real-Time Monitoring in International Semiconductor Transportation

Enhancing transportation quality and operational efficiency through real-time visualization of shock, temperature, and humidity data

Customer:Semiconductor manufacturers

Challenge (Before)

In international transportation of semiconductor products, non–real-time data loggers were used to record shock, temperature, and humidity conditions during transit. However, the transportation status could not be confirmed until after delivery was completed, as the loggers had to be physically retrieved to access the data.
In addition, the process of collecting the loggers and extracting data was time-consuming, and even when abnormalities occurred during transportation, immediate corrective action could not be taken. These limitations posed significant challenges in ensuring transportation quality and operational responsiveness.

Solutions

NX Solution

Introduced real-time IoT devices (data loggers) utilizing 5G connectivity, GPS, and Wi-Fi, enabling continuous monitoring of location, temperature, humidity, shock, and light exposure during transportation.
Established a cloud-based environment that allows transportation conditions to be checked instantly via a web interface, enabling timely information sharing between customers and NX.
Adopted one-way-use devices, eliminating the need for logger retrieval and significantly reducing operational workload.
Implemented an alert system that detects abnormalities and triggers notifications, enabling rapid initial response and ffective root cause analysis.

Benefits

Benefits (Results)

By implementing real-time data loggers, stakeholders gained immediate visibility into shock events and temperature and humidity conditions during transportation, enabling enhanced transportation quality control and faster response capabilities.
Eliminating the need for logger retrieval and manual data collection improved operational efficiency, while information sharing among relevant parties became smoother and more timely. The system also supports rapid response and root cause analysis in the event of abnormalities, and insights gained are reflected in subsequent transportation planning and countermeasures—contributing to continuous improvement in transportation quality.
