Answer
A. I would like to receive my baggage the next day after I return to Japan. Is this possible?
Import customs clearance for your baggage is only possible after you have submitted an unaccompanied baggage declaration form at the time your entry into Japan. Thus, baggage delivery is 3 to 6 days after the customer’s entry into Japan in the case of air freight, and 10 to 14 days after this in the case of sea freight. As such, please note that receiving baggage on the next day after returning to Japan is not possible.
B. How far in advance should I start my preparations for overseas-household moving?
It seems to be best to leave plenty of time and start one or two months before your return to Japan or overseas job assignment. If a return to Japan or overseas job assignment has suddenly been decided, we can immediately visit for a preliminary inspection, and arrange for a pickup on the next day. Nevertheless, please note that from February to April (the busy period) each year, we may not be able to accommodate your preferred arrangements if you have made a sudden application.
C. I recently purchased some new furniture. I would like to send this together with my other baggage. Is this possible?
Yes, it is possible. Nevertheless, items that have been purchased within the past six months are deemed to be new so are subject to taxation. In principle, the importing of such items is not possible unless taxes (consumption taxes and tariffs) are paid to customs at the place of arrival. Please note that unused items are also deemed to be new even if they have been purchased more than six months ago.
D. I purchased souvenirs in bulk in Singapore. Can I send these?
Yes, it is possible to send them. In principle, they are subject to taxes and a customs inspection, so please write the item names and monetary values on your packing list in as much detail as possible. In the case of medical products (soaps and contact lenses) and so on, there may be restrictions on the quantity that can be carried. For detailed information, please contact us.
E. The address where I will receive the delivery is still undecided. Is it possible to have my baggage left at a warehouse for a while?
We can store your baggage at warehouses free of charge, for one month at a Nippon Express room-temperature warehouse in Singapore, and then one month at a Nippon Express bonded warehouse in Japan (two months in total). After this time period, a storage fee is charged. The warehouses are room-temperature warehouses that have the same temperature as the outside temperature. If fixed-temperature warehouses (air-conditioning equipment) are preferred, storing baggage there can be arranged. Nevertheless, in the case of fixed-temperature warehouses, storage fees are incurred starting from the first day of storage.
F. Can I have my baggage delivered to multiple addresses?
Yes, it is possible. Please sort the baggage in advance. Also, please provide instructions on where you would like the baggage delivered, for example, “boxes 1 to 10 go to Home A, and boxes 11 to 15 go to Home B.”
G. I just arrived in Singapore, and would like to send the writing desk that I brought here back to Japan. Is this possible?
In the case of sending back an individual item that a customer has brought but did not need after all, since the customer is already living in Singapore, such an item would be shipped as general cargo. Shipments like this are very expensive, so we do not recommend them.
