NE Mexico opens San Luis Potosi Logistics Center and Salamanca Sales Office

NIPPON EXPRESS DE MEXICO, S.A. DE C.V. ("NE Mexico"; Tadahiro Furue, President), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Kenji Watanabe, President), in November 2014 opened its San Luis Potosi Logistics Center in the city of San Luis Potosi on the Central Mexican Plateau, thereby becoming the first Japanese logistics company to set up a bonded warehouse within the free trade zone ("FTZ") there. In that same month, NE Mexico also opened its Salamanca Sales Office in the city of Salamanca and began offering just-in-time delivery services to automobile-related companies in the area.

The San Luis Potosi Logistics Center is situated inside the FTZ in the city of San Luis Potosi, and the establishment of a bonded warehouse (11,532m2) within this Center eliminates the need to complete the usual customs clearance procedures at the border with Mexico when transporting automotive parts and other goods from the US and enables direct transport to central Mexico. This shortens the time ordinarily required for customs clearance by up to three days, resulting in a substantial reduction in lead time.

The San Luis Potosi Logistics Center will link up to XB3300, a cross-border truck transport service linking Mexico, the US and Canada, and will utilize nearby railway terminals to begin offering rail cargo transport services between Mexico and the US, making a greater number of transport modes available to customers and meeting a wider range of needs.

By storing finished products and parts in the bonded warehouse inside the Center as a non-resident and providing services such as Vendor Management Inventory (VMI) that contribute to improve cash flow, the Center will also function as a hub for export to Latin American countries.

The Salamanca Sales Office has been utilizing its attached warehouse (8,354m2) as a stock point for procurement materials and parts to serve the nearby concentration of automobile-related companies and has started just-in-time deliveries to client factories.

The recent opening of the San Luis Potosi Logistics Center and the Salamanca Sales Office has expanded the Nippon Express Group's network in Mexico to 13 locations in 10 cities (the other eight being Mexico City, Guanajuato, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Aguascalientes, Queretaro, Manzanillo, and Tijuana).

Nippon Express is committed to further improving its level of service and expanding its network to meet the diverse logistics needs of the booming Mexican economy.
