Nippon Express concludes business collaboration agreement with Brahim's Holdings, the world's largest halal airline meal producer

Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd ("NEM"; Kosuke Tabuchi, President), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd., on June 15 concluded a business collaboration agreement for halal transport with Brahim's Holdings Berhad ("Brahim's"; Dato' Seri Ibrahim, Chairman), a Malaysian general food company that, in addition to operating food processing companies and restaurants, is also the world's largest manufacturer of halal airline meals. The first shipment completed under this business collaboration agreement was the transport of 20,000 halal inflight meals from Malaysia for ANA Catering Service.

This business collaboration agreement with Brahim's was made possible by the high regard accorded the Nippon Express Group's halal transport operations in Malaysia and Japan (with Nippon Express having become the first Japanese logistics company to acquire JAKIM MS2400-1 halal logistics certification in Malaysia) and its global network spanning 41 countries/regions worldwide, and by Brahim's recognition of Nippon Express' value as a logistics partner in implementing its future global sales strategy for halal foods.

In accordance with this agreement, NEM has already carried out door-to-door transport to Japan of halal airline meals prepared by Brahim's in Malaysia for ANA Catering Service.

NEM took receipt of the airline meals from Brahim's factories in Malaysia and transported them by sea from Port Klang to the Port of Tokyo. Upon arrival in Japan, the meals were suitably separated from non-halal cargo for storage in a Tokyo warehouse and then delivered to ANA Catering Service facilities in Kawasaki on June 26 and Narita on June 29.

The Nippon Express Group hopes through this agreement with Brahim's to construct a global halal chain that extends beyond Malaysia and Japan to other countries in Asia and the Middle East, and to develop halal transport for medical and pharmaceutical products in addition to food products in order to offer safety and peace of mind to Muslim communities.
