Nittsu Logistics (Thailand) completes construction of Amata City Chonburi Logistics Center

Nittsu Logistics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Kazuhiro Tazawa, President; hereinafter, "NL Thailand"), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Mitsuru Saito, President), has completed the Amata City Chonburi Logistics Center under construction since late last year, and held an opening ceremony for the new facility on Tuesday, July 17.

Attending the opening ceremony were Noboru Sekiguchi, Minister for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Thailand; Tsuyoshi Inoue, Executive Managing Director, Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Bangkok; Tasanee Kiatpatraporn, Deputy Secretary-General, Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand; and representatives from client and partner companies. Joining the 230 or so participants were also Nippon Express President Mitsuru Saito and Shinjiro Takezoe, Executive Officer and Regional General Manager for the South Asia & Oceania Region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Saito declared that "with the establishment of this Center, our Group will have in place the infrastructure needed in Thailand to provide high-quality and competitive comprehensive logistics services on a one-stop basis, and will be able to achieve further development."

This newly opened Center is located in the Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate (formely, the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate), one of the largest industrial parks in Thailand. More than 700 companies, 70% of which are Japanese, have set up operations there, with automotive-related enterprises being especially prominent. The Center also sits in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC*1), a new special economic zone on Thailand's eastern coast expected to see greater economic growth through the Thai government's "Thailand 4.0" national strategy, and thus further expansion can be expected.

The completion of this Amata City Chonburi Logistics Center now gives NL Thailand 12 business locations across the country.

NL Thailand will utilize this network to meet the full range of local customers' logistics needs, including air/ocean cargo forwarding, domestic sales transport, manufacturing logistics (just-in-time delivery), and cross-border truck transport.

Nippon Express will continue striving to enhance its logistics functions in the South Asia Region, a promising area for future growth, and to actively develop its operations and further expand its global logistics business.

1 EEC: A special economic zone comprising three provinces east of Bangkok (Chonburi, Rayong, and Chachoengsao) within which the government is offering investment incentives
