Streamlining E-commerce Fulfillment for the Canadian Market
Establishing a Direct-to-Canada Supply Chain in Just Over Three Months through the NRI Program and Integrated Support

Customer:Automotive Parts Manufacturer
Challenge (Before)
The customer had been supplying parts from Asia to Canadian customers via a warehouse in the United States. However, due to sudden external business environmental changes including trading policy changes in various countries, the cost of imports in US significantly increased at a very rapid pace, putting pressure on profitability. As a result, it became urgent to redesign the sales and logistics structure to enable direct delivery to Canadian customers. This also includes regulatory requirements—importer registration and customs procedures in Canada.
Solutions
NX Solution
- Using the Non-Resident Importer (NRI) program, we established an import, inventory, and distribution framework centered on NX Canada’s strategic warehouses. This allowed direct delivery to Canadian customers without the need for a local entity in Canada.
- We provided comprehensive support for regulatory requirements, including guidance on obtaining a Canadian Business Number and assistance with setting up CARM portal (CBSA’s* online platform for Canadian Importers), to manage customs processes in Canada.
*CBSA = Canada Border Services Agency - We delivered end-to-end logistics operations, including customs clearance, warehousing and distribution.
- Our Project Management Office (PMO) team conducted weekly project reviews and used detailed risk assessments to ensure the operation was launched on schedule.
Benefits
Benefits (Results)
By leveraging the NRI program, the customer successfully established a direct delivery model to Canadian customers without routing shipments through the United States. This reduced the financial burden caused by external business environmental risk factors and accelerated the overall process – from customs entry, duty/GST payment to final distribution in Canada. In addition, NX Canada minimized the operational workload while enabling the new sales and logistics structure in just over three months.
