Moving preparations
Once you've decided to move, the first thing you should do is sort your belongings.
Sea freight
Bulky items (furniture), fragile items (dishes, computers), heavy items (books), and other items that are not urgent.
Airmail
This is for items you'll need soon after returning home (company documents, school supplies, souvenirs, etc.) that you can't carry in your hand luggage. Be careful not to put valuables in it.
Hand luggage
Pack your luggage with items you'll need immediately upon departure (cash, valuables, souvenirs, etc.), passport, school enrollment documents, and driver's license.
Free baggage allowances vary depending on the airline and ticket type. Please check when booking your flight.
Things to leave behind
Electrical appliances designed for overseas markets, houseplants, items that won't fit in a new home in Japan, and items that absolutely cannot be accommodated by company regulations.
Owner's equipment
Make sure to check things like your room key, air conditioner and TV remotes, instruction manuals, and electrical appliances beforehand.
Check company restrictions
There may be various restrictions depending on the company. Please check in advance.
Typically, your employer has regulations regarding the amount of cargo to be transported (○ cft by sea freight, ○ kgs by air freight), the number of shipments, and the amount of insurance coverage. Exceeding these limits will result in personal charges. These regulations depend on factors such as whether you are traveling alone, the number of accompanying family members, and your length of stay, so please check your company's regulations in advance.
Example of company regulations
