Pet transportation process

Transporting pets overseas involves complex quarantine requirements and necessary documents, and the preparation period can be lengthy.
It is important to review each step early and proceed systematically according to a plan.

1. Preparations before departure

Please check the conditions in advance and complete the necessary procedures.
Rabies-related tests and waiting periods are strictly defined, so it's best to prepare early.

  • Microchip implantation
  • Rabies vaccination
  • Antibody test
  • Checking required documents
  • Waiting period of 180 days or more

2. Booking an airline ticket

Traveling with pets requires earlier booking than regular airline tickets due to restrictions on transport slots and other conditions.
We will also proceed with pre-notification to the airline and arrival airport at the same time.

  • Flight and pet transport reservations must be made at least 40 days before departure.
  • The animal import notification form must be submitted to the arrival airport in Japan at least 40 days before departure.

3. From the time of notification submission until just before departure

Even after filing the notification, procedures such as inspections and submission of certificates will continue.

  • After submitting the notification, undergo the inspection and submit the necessary certificates within 10 days, including the departure date.
  • Prepare the items you will need on the day (such as your usual towel and water).

4. Date of boarding (the day of departure)

We prioritize your pet's safety and comfort above all else. We monitor their health and stress levels and are prepared to flexibly adjust the transport plan as needed.

  • Check your pet's health and stress levels.
  • If you feel anxious, don't push yourself.
  • It's reassuring to have arrangements in place that allow you to change your flight ticket.
  • Final checks including water supply and excretion.
  • Early arrival at the airport

Please be sure to check the latest information from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' Animal Quarantine Service and confirm the conditions and procedures with the airline in advance.
