The tax-free conditions are: the sender of the package must be able to prove they have stayed abroad for more than one year on a long-term visa; the sender must return to Japan and complete the "Declaration of Personal Effects and Unaccompanied Baggage" at the arrival airport; the moving goods shipped from overseas must clear customs within six months of arrival; and the shipped items must be personal belongings used for daily life and not intended for resale, in order to be tax-free as moving goods.

Tatami mats, rush mats, and other rush grass-related items cannot be taken home.

Swords/knives (double-edged) with blades longer than 5.5 cm, aikuchi (short swords without guards), and switchblades with a mechanism that automatically opens the blade at an angle of 45 degrees or more cannot be shipped. Single-edged kitchen knives can be taken home.

Generally, this includes "counterfeit branded goods," "the British brand 'Superdry'," and "Converse shoes." If these are found during inspection after you take them home, you will be required to pay for their destruction or have them sent back to you.

Following the amendment to the Plant Protection Act in August 2022, imports are now permitted only for items sealed in glass containers, and the eligibility for USDA prior approval varies depending on the type of flower. Yes, it is possible. Depending on the items, they may not be exempt from customs duties as moving goods, and you will be required to pay taxes and charges (customs duties, consumption tax) as part of the customs clearance process. Also, large batteries are considered hazardous materials, so they must be removed, specially packaged separately, and require prior approval.

Due to transportation regulations, household batteries cannot be loaded onto aircraft without special packaging and permission; therefore, they are shipped by sea. Special batteries and large batteries are considered hazardous materials and cannot be accepted as moving cargo.

Since customs inspection of your luggage will begin once you return to Japan and complete the "Declaration of Separately Shipped Baggage" procedure at the arrival airport, you will not be able to receive your luggage in Japan until you return to Japan.

We cannot ship plant quarantine items (such as seeds found in spices) or animal products (including meat and meat extracts).

We can adjust the delivery date after customs clearance in Japan. For sea freight, storage is free for one month after arrival at our warehouse; thereafter, a daily storage fee will apply. Generally, these items cannot be shipped as moving goods. However, if it is for study abroad, research, or training purposes and mandated by your company, and you are using a small amount of air freight and can submit a letter of explanation to customs, you may be granted a special exemption of up to 200,000 yen as travel baggage. However, this requires a family member to travel to the United States and complete the unaccompanied baggage/personal belongings declaration process. You will need a copy of your passport, a work permit in Japan, and permanent residency. As proof that you have stayed in the United States for more than one year prior to your return to Japan, you will need to submit copies of utility bills (electricity, gas, water, etc.) for your residence.

If the person making the declaration holds Japanese citizenship, there is no problem. However, please inform the person in charge if you have dual citizenship. If you do not hold Japanese citizenship, you will need to obtain a status in Japan and a residence permit.

We cannot ship your package if your visa has expired. You must ship your package and return to your home country before your visa expires. Please hurry.

If you have insurance with our company, your compensation will be either repair, purchase of an equivalent item, or monetary compensation. If you have arranged your own insurance, we will provide you with the necessary documents for insurance claim.
