Procedure for declaring unaccompanied baggage
A declaration of unaccompanied baggage is required for import customs clearance of unaccompanied baggage.
Please refer to the instructions below for how to fill out the form and complete the procedure.
For further details, please refer to the Customs website under "Procedures for sending unaccompanied baggage (sending luggage from your destination country)." (You can also download the unaccompanied baggage declaration form.)
- Fill out the required information on two copies of the "Declaration of Personal Effects and Unaccompanied Baggage" form.
(Declaration forms are available on the plane and at the designated counters at immigration customs.) - After completing immigration procedures and baggage claim, please submit your "Declaration of Personal Effects and Unaccompanied Baggage" to a customs officer at the customs counter and receive a stamp for verification.
- One of the two declaration forms will be collected by customs, and the other will be returned to you. Please check that the form has been stamped and proceed to the exit (arrival lobby) (you cannot complete the procedure after entering the country).
- Please visit the "Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration Counter" at Narita, Kansai, Chubu, or Fukuoka Airport, and hand over the stamped unaccompanied baggage declaration form along with your original passport to the staff member.
(We will make a copy of your original passport and return it to you on the spot.)
