NX Higashihiroshima Chassis Pool

NX Higashihiroshima Chassis Pool is a dedicated trailer staging facility authorized to handle high-purity chemical liquids, including hazardous materials and poisonous and deleterious substances. It supports efficient just-in-time (JIT) deliveries to nearby semiconductor manufacturers, reduces the time long-haul drivers spend on each delivery, and helps maintain inventory for emergencies and disasters.

Solution Overview

Previously, chemical liquids were transported over long distances by trailer to semiconductor plants. Drivers then had to wait at the delivery site for approximately five hours while the chemicals were transferred. As regulations on truck drivers’ working hours tightened, maintaining a stable supply while reducing drivers’ working hours became a significant challenge.
Under the new arrangement, trailers carrying chemical liquids are temporarily held at the chassis pool. Long-haul drivers can drop off their trailers there and return without waiting for the delivery process to finish. NX tractor units then handle the short journey to the semiconductor plant. This significantly reduces driver duty time while enabling JIT deliveries to semiconductor manufacturers 365 days a year. *The diagram is available in Japanese only.

Implementation effects

  • Significant reduction in driver working hours

Eliminates the 5-hour waiting time at the delivery destination. By switching to an operation where the trailer is detached after arriving at the chassis pool and returned empty, the driver's working time can be significantly reduced.

  • Business Continuity Measures

Even during disasters and emergencies, a certain amount of chemical solution inventory can be secured in the chassis pool, enabling rapid delivery. We can also flexibly respond to fluctuations in delivery frequency and timing.

  • Safety management of hazardous and toxic materials

With permits for handling high-purity chemicals, 90-day surveillance camera recordings, and a team of experienced, dedicated staff, we ensure the safe operation of hazardous materials and toxic substances during storage and filling operations.
