We have obtained permits for the collection and transportation of industrial waste from all municipalities nationwide and carry out collection and transportation services.
Our company's distinguishing feature is that we can offer a unique network that combines land transport by truck with environmentally friendly transportation methods such as rail transport via our nationwide network and sea transport by RORO ships.
Collection and Transportation Solutions for Industrial Waste and PCB Waste
Main logistics services
Waste fluorescent lamps, etc. (mercury waste)
We collect and transport waste fluorescent lamps, mercury-containing waste, and other materials from municipalities, private businesses, and other sources throughout Japan to specialized processing facilities. Fluorescent lamps contain mercury, a hazardous substance, and require long-distance transportation for specialized processing. Leveraging our nationwide railway network, we utilize environmentally friendly rail containers for collection and transportation.
Industrial waste (general)
We hold permits from municipalities nationwide to collect and transport industrial waste (specially controlled industrial waste), and we collect and transport industrial waste from manufacturing plants, logistics warehouses, etc., to incineration and recycling facilities. Our nationwide sales and logistics network allows us to provide meticulous industrial waste collection and transportation services.
Industrial waste (sludge, incinerator ash)
We transport sludge and incineration ash (bottom ash, fly ash, etc.) discharged from sewage treatment plants and incineration plants to cement factories and smelting plants as material recycling using 20-foot open-top rail containers.
Industrial waste (solar panels, etc.)
We collect and transport damaged or defective solar panels from mega solar power plants to recycling facilities.
As an increase in emissions is anticipated in the future, we will provide an efficient and cost-effective transportation network, including trucks and rail containers, depending on factors such as the size of the transport lot and the distance to the recycling facility.
Efforts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and proper practices
- Efforts to optimize
We have implemented a company-wide unified industrial waste collection and transportation management system, prioritizing compliance from contract procedures to transportation and manifest management. - Electronic manifest compatible

We have assigned sales and compliance managers to each regional block nationwide to handle the logistics of highly specialized waste in both sales and operational aspects.
What is low-concentration (trace amount) PCB waste?
The manufacture of PCB insulating oil was discontinued in 1972. However, in July 2002, it was discovered that trace amounts of PCB (several mg/kg to tens of mg/kg) were present in the insulating oil of electrical equipment that was supposed to be PCB-free. Electrical equipment manufactured before the early 1990s cannot be ruled out as potentially containing trace amounts of PCB, and storage operators are now required to analyze the insulating oil before disposal.
Analysis has shown that electrical equipment contaminated with low concentrations (trace amounts) of PCBs (more than 0.5 mg/kg but less than 5,000 mg/kg) can only be processed at treatment facilities certified by the government. Currently, private facilities capable of processing such equipment are being established throughout the country.
What is NX's collection and transportation of trace PCB waste?
Nippon Express has obtained permits from all municipalities nationwide to collect and transport specially controlled industrial waste (waste PCBs, PCB-contaminated materials, etc.) and works in cooperation with certified facilities for the detoxification of low-concentration PCBs to collect and transport contaminated insulating oil (waste PCBs, etc.) and contaminated waste electrical equipment (PCB-contaminated materials).
We comply with the "Guidelines for the Collection and Transportation of Low-Concentration (Trace) PCBs" and provide the most suitable logistics method, including rail, sea, and land transport (trucks, trailers, tank trucks), to meet the needs of storage operators and the acceptance conditions of the destination.
Low-concentration (trace amount) PCB-contaminated insulating oil (waste PCBs, etc.)
Low-concentration (trace amount) PCB-contaminated insulating oil is classified as Class 4, Category 3 Petroleum under the Fire Service Act. Even if the risk is low, storage in facilities compliant with the Fire Service Act may be required depending on the quantity stored. (Please check with your local fire department.)
Many of these products are several decades old and have not undergone maintenance, which increases the risk of leakage. For storage operators, dealing with contaminated materials such as surrounding structures in the event of a leak will become a burden in the future, so we recommend preemptively draining the oil, even if it is only insulating oil.
For businesses that store large quantities of PCB-contaminated insulating oil at their facilities, we use large hazardous materials tank trucks (dedicated to PCB-contaminated insulating oil). For businesses that store small quantities, we collect the insulating oil in drums and transport it to certified detoxification companies nationwide.
Nippon Express receives requests for the removal and transportation of insulating oil from numerous storage businesses nationwide, primarily from large-scale storage operators such as power companies, railway companies, and heavy electrical equipment manufacturers. We have established our own work manuals and thoroughly educate our PCB handling personnel, ensuring safe and reliable service.

Collection and transportation of low-concentration (trace) PCB-contaminated waste electrical equipment (PCB-contaminated materials)
Electrical equipment containing low-concentration (trace) PCB-contaminated insulating oil can be disposed of at government-certified private disposal facilities (including those authorized by some local governments). Our company can collect and transport the equipment to all of these facilities.
Since each facility has different acceptance criteria (types of electrical equipment that can be accepted, dimensions, presence or absence of insulating oil, and transportation/delivery methods), we will provide the most suitable logistics method to match the conditions of your destination.
For many years, our company has handled the transportation and loading/unloading of numerous heavy electrical equipment items at the request of heavy electrical equipment manufacturers, and we are highly skilled in handling heavy goods. In addition to transportation for disposal, we can also handle storage consolidation, repair work, and other related services.
Our strength lies in our ability to handle projects requiring advanced construction techniques, such as transporting equipment from difficult-to-access locations and using heavy trailers for the collection and transportation of extra-large electrical equipment, entirely in-house.
A complete service for unloading, loading, and transporting transformers from confined spaces using a 30-ton low-bed trailer (with steering trailer).
For loading and unloading large equipment from confined spaces, rear-wheel steering low-bed trailers are ideal. We select the most suitable vehicle based on the storage location and transport route, and ensure a smooth operation to deliver your equipment safely to its destination.
|---|---|---|
On-site dismantling and removal of large transformers
We handle the on-site oil draining of large equipment that cannot be driven on public roads, minimizing disassembly to restore it to a drivable state, and then transporting and removing it. Our company's equipment and heavy-duty staff, highly experienced in PCB handling, ensure safety is our top priority.
Other related services
For electrical equipment located in building basements or on rooftops, or for large pieces of equipment that are difficult to remove due to changes in road conditions since installation, we also offer on-site cutting and dismantling services.
We can handle the nationwide transportation of containers (drums, pails, etc.) containing bridge coatings (low-concentration PCBs) from the site to customer facilities, as well as collection and transportation for certified detoxification companies.
