ISO9001 (quality)
Nippon Express has been progressively obtaining ISO 9001 certification at its air freight bases since 1994, with the aim of standardizing and improving its services. Regular audits are conducted by internal auditors, and information is collected and analyzed during daily operations to clarify customer needs and expectations, thereby ensuring continuous improvement. Overseas, Nippon Express UK was the first Japanese freight forwarder to receive certification, and currently, local subsidiaries in more than 10 countries/regions worldwide have obtained the certification.
Moving forward, we will leverage the expertise we have accumulated to further improve quality and strive to provide services that satisfy our customers. -
ISO14001 (environment)
Nippon Express first obtained ISO 14001 certification at its log handling facility in the Tokyo Air Transport Branch in June 1998, followed by five other locations in March 2000, and two more locations in March 2001. Furthermore, the company is striving to expand and enhance its ISO certifications in areas other than the air transport sector.

AS9120 Overview
AS9100 is a quality management system standard for the aerospace industry, adding aerospace-specific requirements to ISO9001. The "AS9120" certification that our company has obtained is part of the AS9100 series and is intended for non-manufacturing businesses involved in the aerospace supply chain, including logistics companies, wholesalers, and trading companies.
Those who obtain this certification can search for businesses on "OASIS," a globally standardized data system operated by the International Aerospace Quality Group.
Our company's initiatives
In September 2011, our company became the first Japanese freight forwarder to obtain AS9120 certification.
In November of the same year, NX America, an overseas subsidiary, obtained certification, and subsequently expanded its certification base to include NX France. In February 2017, it also obtained certification at Narita, a major airport in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
We will continue to actively work on building supply chains for our many customers in the aerospace industry.

Overview of AEO (Authorized Economic Operator)
Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States, security measures began to be implemented in various countries, and in the US, systems such as C-TPAT and CSI (Container Security Initiatives) were introduced. In December 2006, the European Commission (EU) amended the EU Customs Law Implementing Regulations to introduce a system that grants preferential treatment regarding customs procedures to authorized economic operators (exporters and importers) who demonstrate excellent compliance with the security aspects of their goods. On January 1, 2008, the AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) system came into effect, and from July 1, 2009, all businesses will be required to submit information on goods entering and leaving the EU customs area in advance, but the procedures will be simplified for AEO-certified companies. Many of our European subsidiaries have also obtained AEO certification.
Initiatives in Japan
In Japan, with the 2007 amendment to the Customs Act, a system was established to improve the existing specific export declaration system, etc., by providing preferential treatment in customs procedures for excellent businesses and a qualification system for receiving such treatment, which can be described as a Japanese version of AEO (Authorized Economic Operator). Our company was approved as the first company in Japan to be approved under the specific bonded warehouse system in 2008. Furthermore, we received certification as an accredited customs broker in 2012. We will continue to strive to maintain and improve the accuracy of our bonded warehouse and customs clearance operations and further strengthen our compliance management.
Overseas initiatives
In the European region, NX Netherlands began preparing for AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) status early on. As a result, it was selected by customs authorities as one of the pilot companies and became the first Japanese company in Europe to obtain AEO status in May 2008. Since then, it has completed AEO status acquisition for all 13 of its planned local subsidiaries in Europe.
Furthermore, we are also making progress in Asia, and to date, we have obtained AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) status for 11 local subsidiaries in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
These demonstrate the confidence that customs authorities have in our company overseas.
The requirements for obtaining the qualification are:
- Compliance status regarding customs clearance operations
- Appropriate internal control systems are in place for logistics and customs procedures.
- Healthy financial condition
- A proper security management system is in place.
It is displayed.

Overview of TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association)
TAPA stands for Transported Asset Protection Association, a non-profit organization established in the United States in 1997, comprised of security professionals and security personnel from high-tech and consumer electronics companies. TAPA standards are used to enhance security in the transportation industry and are recognized worldwide as the highest standard guidelines for security and safety practices. High-tech companies, in particular, are increasingly being required to meet TAPA standards. TAPA standards are divided into three levels, from the highest level A to the minimum level C, depending on the required level. Level A involves an assessment of 154 items, and a company is considered to have passed the assessment if all TAPA security standard audit requirements are met.
NX Group's TAPA certification status
In May 2003, NX America became the first Japanese company in the United States to obtain TAPA Level A certification. Currently, we have 22 certified locations worldwide.

Overview of C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism)
C-TPAT is a voluntary program introduced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in November 2004, following the 9/11 attacks, with the aim of ensuring and strengthening security throughout the global supply chain through international cooperation with private businesses involved in U.S. imports, including importers, transporters, and customs brokers.
NX America's initiatives
NX America obtained C-TPAT participation certification in April 2004.
With security becoming a global concern, our company has been actively promoting security initiatives, including obtaining TAPA certification at our overseas network locations. Moving forward, we will continue and promote security initiatives to earn even greater trust from our customers, while also providing maximum cooperation in preventing terrorism.
