How to use the service

• 

  1. Gather the necessary documents.

  Prepare the necessary documents. Get ready for the written test.
  (Note) Online applications are no longer accepted.

• 

  2. Application for provisional license, written test, and vision test.

  Search for your nearest DMV office on the DMV website and schedule an appointment.
  Take the completed documents (originals) to the office, submit your application, have your eyesight tested, have your photo taken, and pay the fees. You will also take a written test at the office on the same day.

• 

  3. Attend a 5-hour training course.

  After receiving your "Learner Permit," you will take a 5-hour online course via Zoom at a state-certified driving school (FUJI DRIVING SCHOOL). Upon completion, you will receive a certificate and proceed to the road test.

• 

  4. Book a road test.

  After completing the 5-hour training course, FUJI DRIVING will contact you with information on how to book your road test, and you can reserve a date and location. Alternatively, you can apply directly at the DMV. After applying, you will receive confirmation of your reservation or notification of the availability within a few days. In some cases, you can take your road test as early as 1-2 weeks later.

• 

  5. Practice on the road

  Once the date for the road test is set, you'll book lessons leading up to that day.

• 

  6. Road test

  Follow the examiner's instructions and take the road test. You can check the results on the DMV's designated website after 6:00 AM on the same day. If you pass, you can download a Temporary License. You can drive with both the Temporary License and the Learner Permit until your permanent license arrives.

• 

  7. Obtaining a license

  Your driver's license will be sent to you two to three weeks after you pass the road test.
