Consolidating Intra-Southeast Asia Logistics and Achieving Inventory Visibility through a Malaysia Hub Warehouse

A hub warehouse equipped with an inventory visibility solution enables a stable supply framework across Southeast Asia.

Customer:Manufacturers with operations across multiple Southeast Asian countries

Challenge (Before)

Manufacturers operating across several Southeast Asian countries often ship products and spare parts individually to each destination from production sites located outside the region, such as Japan or China.
As a result, shipments tend to be small and frequent, leading to higher logistics costs and increased workload for receiving and inspection at each destination.
In addition, because inventories were distributed across multiple countries, it was difficult to obtain a clear view of inventory levels across the region. This often delayed the identification of stockout risks and replenishment decisions.
Companies also struggled to respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding delivery schedules, making it difficult to maintain a stable supply system.

Solutions

NX Solution

  • Established a Southeast Asia regional hub warehouse in Malaysia to consolidate cargo from production sites outside the region. By grouping shipments by destination, NX streamlined the regional logistics flow.
  • Implemented “SHUTTLE,” NX’s WMS-linked portal, enabling remote visibility of inventory levels and inbound/outbound information at the hub warehouse.
  • The hub warehouse is located within a Free Commercial Zone (FCZ) in Malaysia. By utilizing the bonded environment, customers can operate inventory bases even without establishing a local subsidiary.
  • Leveraging Malaysia’s geographic advantage at the center of Southeast Asia, NX enables efficient access to regional destinations via multiple transportation modes—sea, air, and land—achieving shorter and more stable lead times.

Benefits

Benefits (Results)

By switching from individual shipments from outside the region to consolidated shipments to the hub warehouse, companies were able to reduce logistics costs and ease the burden of receiving and inspection at each destination.
With inventory visibility through SHUTTLE, headquarters and management departments can now monitor inventory levels across the region in real time, enabling faster replenishment decisions and quicker responses to customer inquiries.
Shorter delivery lead times have also improved end-user satisfaction, and the hub warehouse now serves as a logistics foundation supporting stable supply throughout Southeast Asia.
