Challenge (Before)
Domestic logistics operations—including the storage and supply of imported parts, delivery to production sites, and storage and distribution of finished vehicles—were fragmented across each process, resulting in overall inefficiencies.
In addition, deliveries to geographically dispersed areas, including remote islands, required a combination of multiple transport modes, creating challenges in maintaining transport quality and responding flexibly to demand fluctuations.
There was a clear need to establish an integrated logistics framework capable of centrally managing the entire supply chain and supporting stable production and sales operations.
Solutions
NX Solution
- Established an End-to-End logistics framework connecting inbound parts handling to finished vehicle distribution by deploying multiple dedicated warehouses (DCs and cross-dock facilities) nationwide.
- Stored CKD parts imported from overseas in warehouses and delivered them to factories on a Just-in-Time (JIT) basis in accordance with production schedules.
- Stored finished vehicles produced at factories in strategically located DCs and cross-dock facilities across Japan, and distributed them to regional dealerships. Sufficient storage capacity enables flexible responses to fluctuations in production and demand.
- Ensured stable transport quality to wide-area destinations, including remote islands, through integrated multimodal transportation combining land and sea transport.
