How are moving expenses determined?
Moving is, in a sense, custom-made.
Moving is essentially a bespoke service. In addition to the basic fee, the cost will vary depending on the services you request. What are the costs involved in an international move? We will explain the costs for sea freight, air freight, and other items. International moving costs (for exports) can be broadly divided into the following three categories.
A. Expenses incurred in Taiwan
- Packing material costs
- work cost
- Trucking costs
- Export exterior specification costs
- Export customs clearance fees, etc.
B. Port charges and sea freight/air freight
C. Landing costs
- Arrival Port Costs
- Import procedures and fees, including truck charges.
- Examination fee
- Delivery truck or rail costs
- Delivery handling fees, etc.
The sum of A + B + C will be the basic moving fee.
Shipping costs vary depending on the destination country. For sea freight, the cost depends on the volume of your package, while for air freight, it depends on both weight and volume.
<Volume for sea freight>
Volume is usually expressed in units of M3 (cubic meters) or cft (cubic feet), with a minimum charge of 1 M3, and the price increases for every additional 1 M3. (1 M3 = 35.3 cft) As a rough guideline, 1 M3 is about 1/4 the size of a closet with a frontage of one ken (approximately 1.8m), or about six of our medium-sized cardboard boxes.
For example, even if 2-3 boxes do not equal 1 cubic meter, the minimum charge is 1 cubic meter, so the price will be based on 1 cubic meter.
Depending on the quantity, air freight may be more cost-effective. Please contact us for details.
The cost is calculated based on the volume of the outer packaging (GROSS volume).
After packing, sea freight shipments undergo "outer packaging" at the warehouse. Outer packaging involves stacking the packed boxes on a pallet and surrounding them with triple layers of cardboard to create a single, unified package. The shipping fee is calculated based on the volume after this outer packaging.
- * The size of the cartons and other packaging materials used at the customer's home is referred to as the NET volume.

<Weight for air freight>
Air freight weight (kgs) is calculated using either the actual weight ("actual weight") or the volumetric weight (length cm x width cm x height cm ÷ 6000), whichever is greater. Additional charges such as insurance and the following may apply.
- Long-distance shipping fee (if picking up outside of Taipei)
- Stair costs when there is no elevator
- Cost of removal from the underground elevator (for apartments where removal and delivery from the 1st floor is not possible)
- Lifting fee (for large items that cannot be moved in or out via elevator, stairs, etc.)
- Unpacking fee
- Storage fee
- Collection of garbage and other waste
- Disposal costs
- Two-location pickup, two-location delivery, etc.
