NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC. (President: Satoshi Horikiri) and its group companies Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (President: Shinjiro Takezoe; hereinafter “Nippon Express”) and Nittsu NEC Logistics Co., Ltd.   The “Corporate Scope 3 (Logistics Sector) Measures Promotion Project (Air and Ocean Transport)” is a Tokyo Metropolitan Government subsidy program aimed at helping reduceCOemissions throughout supply chains by encouraging the utilization of SAF or biofuels in air and ocean freight transport to minimize environmental impact. A portion of the additional charges associated with the use of SAF or biofuels for air and ocean freight transport handled through freight forwarders selected for this program will be subsidized through the end of March 2027.

The NX Group has identified more robust responses to climate change as a key priority (materiality) in its efforts to achieve its long-term vision of becoming “a logistics company with a strong presence in the global market”. Accordingly, the Group is seeking to expand the use of SAF and biofuels to provide products and services – e.g., the “NX-GREEN SAF Program” and the “NX-GREEN Ocean Program” – that enable customers to cut their COemissions.

Nippon Express has been selected as a freight forwarder for this Project for three consecutive years since FY2024. The company will in FY2026 continue creating an environment that facilitates the use of SAF and biofuels by more customers, thereby supporting the reduction of CO2 emissions across entire supply chains.

Chosen for the first time as a freight forwarder for this Project, Nittsu NEC Logistics will be leveraging the expertise it has cultivated in electronics, precision equipment and other logistics sectors requiring advanced quality control to support its customers’ logistics-focused decarbonization efforts through transport proposals that balance quality, delivery times, and environmental considerations.

The NX Group has established the following CO2 emission reduction targets for the group as a whole to achieve by 2030: a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from 2013 levels, and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from 2022 levels. The Group is also looking to help bring about carbon-neutral societies by 2050 (Scopes 1, 2, and 3). In June 2025, the NX Group’s 2030 CO2 emission reduction targets were certified as SBT short-term targets*3.

Going forward, the Group will continue working with stakeholders to carry out initiatives that address material issues as it strives to realize its Sustainability Vision.

Scope 2: The company’s CO2 emissions from electricity consumption and other heat/power sources, etc., supplied by other companies
Scope 3: Indirect CO2 emissions from the company's business activities (product transport, employee commuting, business trips, etc.)
